What a beautiful weekend we enjoyed in New Orleans. The weather was perfect – blue skies and warm temps, it was our first taste of spring and we liked it! So, how did we spend the beautiful weekend? Eating, drinking and indulging, of course! This weekend we attended Oyster Jubilee, had some cocktails at Cure and tried one of the newest restaurants on Freret Street – Wayfare. Check out the photos of what we did this weekend and share with us your weekend adventures on Facebook and Twitter!
What we saw: In New Orleans, we celebrate everything about our culture, including food and beverage. This weekend we celebrated the oyster at Oyster Jubilee and the crowning moment was the cutting of the longest poboy. It was quite a sight to see as the poboy spanned 340 feet (that’s a little more than a football field of poboy!) and it was quite delicious.
What we drank: There is nothing more refreshing during a warm day than a delicious Pimm’s Cup. Made, typically, with Pimm’s No. 1, citrus, cucumber and a little bit of ginger ale (or sprite or 7-up) it’s the perfect afternoon beverage. This weekend we enjoyed the Pimm’s Cup at Cure, but you can find this drink at pretty much every bar in NOLA.
What we ate: Freret Street is all the rage these days in NOLA and it’s not surprising considering there are handfuls of new restaurants and bars opening every day. This weekend, we checked out one of the latest additions to Freret Street – Wayfare. We have a feeling this place will be around for a while; in addition to their delicious sandwiches, their sides are killer. Our favorite? The mac and cheese with pork belly.
