The rivalry continues. That’s what fans can expect at the 2016 Bayou Classic on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 4 p.m., when the Grambling State Tigers take on the Southern University Jaguars in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
The football is the main event, of course, but there are plenty of other activities to keep fans enthralled.
Several career events will take place as part of this year’s event.
On Friday, a career and college fair happens from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, giving soon-to-be grads (or anyone looking for a new job) the chance to browse a host of potential opportunities in one simple setting.
At the Bayou Classic, traditions extend beyond the game. One of the most beloved festivities is the Thanksgiving Day Parade that two-steps from the Superdome to French Market starting at 3:30 p.m. Expect floats, krewes, and plenty of merriment, but not cigarettes – the parade is presented in part by the Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco-Free Living.
On Friday, head to the Battle of the Bands & Greek Show at 6 p.m. for a music-filled evening. Saturday features “Fan Fest” at 11:30 a.m. leading up to the game, while invitation-only events like a coaches’ luncheon, official welcome reception, kickoff party, and donor gala bring plenty of pomp and circumstance.
No matter who wins, fans can delight in continued festivities even after the fourth quarter is over. Enjoy the city’s nightlife following the game on Saturday night, and on Sunday, head to the House of Blues at 10 a.m. for a relaxing gospel brunch.
