For some people, Thanksgiving cooking is a fun, challenging thing to look forward to all year round. But for others, it means battling long grocery store lines, burning pumpkin pies, and dealing with a destroyed kitchen. That’s why we’ve put together a sample menu full of locally made items you can pick up for a stress-free feast. We’ve also rounded up some great New Orleans restaurants (in alphabetical order) that are staying open for the holiday to give you a delicious day of eating.
Because of high demand for tables on this day, we definitely recommend calling ahead in order to secure a spot.
Dine In: A Big, Easy Thanksgiving
Take the pressure off this Thanksgiving by opting to dine out or host a nice catered meal. From pre-brined and stuffed turkeys, to pans of green bean casserole and artfully crafted pies, this is an easy job for the pros. So sit back, relax, and enjoy a big, easy Thanksgiving everyone will love – you included!
Bread, Wine, Appetizers
La Boulangerie – Fill your breadbasket with freshly baked breads, like potato rolls, jalapeno cheddar corn bread muffins, olive baguette, and raisin walnut loaves. Cakes, pies, and other pastries are also available.
Martin’s Wine Cellar – No Thanksgiving feast is complete without a toast. Martin’s, located Uptown and in Metairie, can help you stock up on the best bottles to pair with your meal. Plus, many bottles are on sale for the holidays. Pick up some cheese straws while you’re at it.
Langenstein’s – Everyone knows it’s not a party or feast without this family-owned grocery’s Better Cheddar dip. Don’t forget the sturdy crackers to hold up against aggressive dippers!
Turkey and Sides
Cochon Butcher – Let the pros do the prep: pick up your brined and/or boudin-stuffed turkey to roast yourself. And for something a little more non-traditional, whole hogs are also available, raw or pre-cooked. Sides such as green bean casserole, mac and cheese, oyster dressing and homemade gravy complete the feast. They even have dinner rolls and dessert!
Dryades Public Market – Give the fire department a break and pick up your fried turkey from Dryades Market in Central City, where $40 of turkey can feed 24 people. Serve it up with some sides of sweet potatoes, squash medley, cornbread stuffing, and orange cranberry sauce. They also have seafood and non-seafood gumbo as well as freshly baked pies.
Gracious Bakery – Make a smaller mess of your kitchen this year by allowing Gracious Bakery to prepare dessert for your Thanksgiving feast. Festive options include brown sugar pecan cake with brown sugar buttercream and Dutch apple crumble pie with sour cream custard. Each 9-inch cake serves about 10-12 people and pies serve 8.
Willa Jean – In charge of dessert? Show up to your Thanksgiving feast with one of these incredible pies: double-crust apple huckleberry, banana and peanut butter cream, or chocolate bourbon pecan. Need something less fancy? Some chocolate espresso cookies and coffee make for an awesome alternative.

Borgne Restaurant: Seafood-focused modern Louisiana cooking with a special Thanksgiving menu, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Chophouse New Orleans: Prime chops and family-style sides perfect for the holiday, noon to 8 p.m.
Commander’s Palace: The iconic (and historic) New Orleans restaurant will serve a special Thanksgiving menu within its posh and proper confines.
The Court of Two Sisters: Creole classics in the heart of the French Quarter, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Criollo: Elegant, Creole-inspired fare inside the iconic Hotel Monteleone; will serve a special Thanksgiving menu and a la carte menu, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Dickie Brennan’s Bourbon House: Authentic New Orleans dishes in a lively atmosphere on Bourbon Street, 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Morton’s The Steakhouse: Classic, elegant steakhouse on Canal street, 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Oceana Grill: Casual and classic, with a courtyard in the French Quarter, 8 a.m. to 1 a.m.
Ralph’s on the Park: A gorgeous restaurant in a picturesque setting across from City Park, 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Rib Room at the Omni Royal Orleans: Prime steak in a clubby, intimate French Quarter space, 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The Roosevelt New Orleans: The stately hotel (known in part for its memorable holiday decorations) will hold a traditional Thanksgiving buffet brunch featuring carving stations and a raw bar from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; the Fountain Lounge inside the hotel will also feature a specialty menu
SoBou: The W Hotel eatery with inventive craft cocktails and located south of Bourbon Street (hence the name) will serve a special Thanksgiving menu from 11:30 a.m. until 9:30 p.m.
