1. Tales of the Cocktail — Tales of the Cocktail centers around the art and glory of the cocktail. Though aimed largely at industry professionals, there are concurrent events (like the Freret Street Block Party below) where anyone can join in on the spirited fun. Tickets vary.
2. National Hot Dog Day at Dat Dog — From 3-8 p.m., Dat Dog’s Freret Street location will be a hot spot with happy hour dogs ($5 select dogs), drink specials, live dog portraits, raffles, local artisans, face painting, and more. The annual “Hot Dog Dressing Contest” starts at 4 p.m.: contestants must create a unique combination of toppings to complement Dat Dog’s Vaucresson sausage. The winning dog will be named the Son of a Saint charity specialty dog for the following year.
3. Friends & Flows at Dryades Public Market — From 6-10 p.m., Dryades Market is your place to mingle with free tastings of Cathead Vodka until 7:30 plus $5 vodka cocktails and $6 whisky cocktails all night. A live DJ and plenty of food will be on-site, as well as local vendors featuring photography, art, apparel, and more.
5. Freret Street Block Party and Bar Crawl — Close out Tales of the Cocktail festivities at this block party and bar crawl running along Freret Street between Jena and Soniat streets. Starting at 5 p.m., participating bars like High Hat Cafe, Bar Frances, and Cure will serve up drinks from guest bartenders. Several venues will feature local, live music.
