Last Weekend in New Orleans: Blues, SoBou and Dat Dog

Last weekend in New Orleans we ate crawfish etoufee fries from Dat Dog, drank Dark and Stormys at SoBou and saw Sugar Blue at Blues & BBQ Festival.

Fall is in full swing and with the changing of the seasons comes an influx of new festivals and fun in New Orleans. Last weekend there were festivals galore. Besides checking out Blues & BBQ and the Louisiana Seafood Festival, we made it to SoBou in the French Quarter for cocktails and Dat Dog Uptown for a special snack. Can’t wait to see what’s in store this weekend in New Orleans!

What we ate: Loaded Dat Dog fries. Our craving for fries was exceeded at Dat Dog last weekend. We went in just wanting a regular order but couldn’t resist all the topping options! We got our fries loaded, which at Dat Dog means topped with crawfish etoufee, tomatoes and sour cream. Exquisite.

What we drank: Dark and Stormy from SoBou. The newest Brennan family venture, SoBou, has quickly become one of our favorite spots in the French Quarter for a well-made cocktail. We opted for a tried and true classic last weekend, a Dark and Stormy, and it was one well-mixed drink!

What we saw: Sugar Blue at Blues & BBQ. We saw so many fantastic blues musicians last weekend at Blues and BBQ Fest – Keb Mo and the Bo-Keyes to name a couple. But the one who stole our hearts and our hips was Sugar Blue from Chicago. This Grammy Award winning artist has harmonica skills that we never before could have imagined. So good, in fact, that on first listen we mistook for an electric guitar. Hopefully we’ll catch him again at next year’s Crescent City Blues & BBQ Fest!
