One of our favorite things about the culinary community in New Orleans is their never-ending commitment to giving back to the city. Thanks to this dedication, you can always count on being able to enjoy great food and great drinks in the name of community service. This month’s culinary charity event, Burgers, Bourbon & Beer, pits some of the city’s top burger joints against each other in a battle royal for the crown of New Orleans’ best burger. All this for the Second Harvest Food Bank, who works tirelessly to end hunger in our local community.

Burgers, Bourbon & Beer will feature sliders from Dickie Brennan’s Bourbon House, Cheeseburger Eddie’s, The Company Burger, Cowbell, Phil’s Grill, Straight Stick Ranch Co. / Rock ‘N’ Bowl, Sylvain and Tru Burger will each be paired with a specialty bourbon cocktail or beer in the hopes of being heralded as the city’s best burger by a panel of celebrity judges. While that title is nice, I’m pretty sure the most coveted award of the night will be the “People’s Choice” award, where you can vote for your favorite burger to bring home the hardware. As if the eight fantastic burgers weren’t going to be enough, there is going to be a surprise treat for dessert. While mum has been the word so far, we were able to learn that a themed gelato dessert from La Divina Gelateria will round out the event’s culinary treats.

This is a charity event so you’re sure to have an amazing chance at picking up some great items and one-of-a-kind, priceless experiences while helping out Second Harvest. The one I’m most looking forward to is the “stock your bar” prize. Main sponsor Glazer’s Distributors has donated some premium and rare bourbons that you’ll have a chance at taking home. As an added bonus, you won’t have to worry about being out bid for the “stock your bar” prize at the last minute, as it will be a raffle with tickets only costing a mere $5! A chance to stock your bar with hundreds of dollars of premium hooch for $5 is worth the price of admission alone!
Tickets to Burgers, Bourbon & Beer are $35 in advance, available here, or $45 dollars at the door if any are left. Of course, I wouldn’t want to leave being able to get in to such a great event to chance.
