Work Martyrs No More: Plan a New Orleans Vacation

Don’t let that PTO waste away.

Hey, you. We see you at your desk, head down, headphones on. And if you think that’s omniscient, wait until you hear what else we see: all those unused vacation days of yours. We know all the reasons you haven’t used them — because no one else can do your job quite like you. Or because you’ll have a mountain of work to come back to, or you’ll be perceived as being disinterested in the company. Or maybe because it’s just too damn expensive. Sound familiar?

Let us walk you through your fears, and you’ll finally see what we see: a light at the end of the tunnel, heavy with the scent of beignets and the sounds of jazz music. So don’t let that PTO waste away — come to New Orleans, work martyr. We’re here for you.

Fear: “No one else can do my job.”

Cheer: Absence makes the heart grow fonder! Plus, no offense, but someone can probably comfortably take the reigns for a few days. On the flip side, we’re pretty sure New Orleans has its fair share of truly irreplaceable characters you’ll want to meet, like Mr. Okra, pictured above.

Fear: “I’ll have a mountain of work waiting for me when I get back.”

Cheer: With the right amount of planning (and we know you’re a planner), you can work ahead. Plus, we’ve got mountains of our own at Cafe du Monde and Morning Call that are decidedly more tempting.

Fear: “My boss might think I’m not serious about my job, which could affect my growth.”

Cheer: Personal growth and professional growth go hand in hand. A trip to New Orleans affords you all sorts of one-of-a-kind creative and cultural experiences that will stay with you once you’re back in the office (…and you can always bring some pralines back for your coworkers to sweeten the deal).

Fear: “It costs too much money.”

Cheer: New Orleans offers free and affordable activities year-round for you to enjoy, from music performances to comedy and more. We’ve also got hidden gem restaurants that serve up incredible food on a dime. And our midweek deals at hotels and attractions mean you’ll save precious dough if you come during the week (did we mention our weekday social calendars are just as busy as our weekend?).
