New Orleans is seen by many as a great food destination, a spot for a romantic getaway, or the perfect place to hear live music. While it does fit the bill when it comes to these things, it’s also a great place for families. With the Dad 2.0 Summit coming to town this February 1-3, we put together a list of some of the best things to do in New Orleans for dads. While these activities will appeal to more than just dads, here are our top six ways to spend some quality time here in NOLA.

New Orleans Boulder Lounge

With locations on both Tchoupitoulas and St. Claude, the New Orleans Boulder Lounge is a great spot for dads and kids alike. A day pass gets you access to the gym all day at $16 for adults and $10 for kids ages 12 & under. This gym focuses on bouldering, which is climbing at lower heights without a rope of harness. It’s a great, different way to workout, challenge yourself, and have fun all at the same time!

Experience City Park

New Orleans City Park is a great spot for nature lovers, adventure seekers, or even history buffs. As one of the oldest urban parks in the country, this 1,300-acre park has a lot to offer. In the park you’ll find amusement rides, a mini golf course, an equestrian farm, countless trails, playgrounds, tennis courts, and sports fields. For something fun and different, rent a paddle boat or kayak to take on Big Lake.

Enjoy the Lakefront

The Lakefront is undoubtedly one of New Orleans’ hidden gems. Whether you choose to take a walk on the levees, have a picnic under a shelter, or visit the New Canal Lighthouse, this spot is great for all. While it’s a little too cold to brave the waters this time of year, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it from a different perspective. Be sure to bundle up!

Explore the historic Tremé neighborhood and catch a movie at the Broad Theater. Recently opened in 2016, this theater remains a favorite among locals and offers both mainstream and indie film screenings. Enjoy craft beer or cocktails while kicking back and enjoying a show.

Stay for the Superbowl

February may mean football season is winding down, but it also means that the biggest game of the year is finally here. New Orleans is a great place to be a spectator for any sports game, especially the Superbowl on February 4. We’ve got the top spots to catch the game right here, so go ahead, stay an extra day and cheer on your favorite team from right here in NOLA.
