Algiers Point was established in 1719, and is the second oldest neighborhood in New Orleans. It's a quiet hidden gem located across the Mississippi River from the French Quarter. Spend a leisurely day here wandering the historic streets.

A few blocks from the ferry terminal is Congregation Coffee. The name "Congregation" is also what a group of alligators is called. Swing into this local coffee shop to kickstart your day!

Algiers Point is a very walkable neighborhood, with tree lined sidewalks and an array of historic architecture.

Olivier Street is one of the most beautiful streets in the neighborhood, with some of the grandest homes to gawk over.

Historic churches tend to blend in with the homes. This church, Mt. Olivet Episcopal Church, dates back to 1854 and is still in service!

The Holy Name of Mary Church is a beautiful gothic revival church on Verret Street. The sounds of the church bells can be heard throughout the whole neighborhood.

Stop by the Dry Dock Cafe to fuel up with a classic shrimp poboy and bloody mary!

You might need more coffee after your filling lunch. One Stone is a bright and airy coffee shop in the heart of the neighborhood.

Take in some of the local art at the Algiers Folk Art and Blues Museum. It stands as one of the South's few "living" folk art environments.

Test your skills at glassblowing with a hands on class taught by the owner and artist of Rosetree Blown Glass Studio. If you're not the artistic type, you can always purchase one of his stunning works to be shipped home to you!

The Algiers Courthouse is another historic building you don't want to miss. You might even see a happy couple getting married on the balcony!

A stroll along the levee will make you feel like a NOLA local. You will be joined by bikers, runners, and dog walkers, all taking in the sights of the Big Easy skyline.

An Algiers Point sunset is one not to miss! Listen to the waves of the mighty Mississippi and the faint sounds of the Natchez Steamboat calliope. The magic of New Orleans is felt here, and you might even get some goosebumps.

After dinner, wander down to the Old Point Bar, which has local bands playing every night of the week. You might even see a celebrity or two while you are there. The place is the perfect hideout for actors who are filming in the NOLA area.

Close out your day in Algiers Point with one last stop along the river. The views of the New Orleans skyline are the perfect ending credits to an unforgettable day in the Big Easy.
