Another French Quarter home is the Creole Townhouse. These usually have businesses on the ground level and living spaces with a balcony on the top. The wrought iron balconies make up the distinct New Orleans architecture, and are usually decorated with hanging flowers in the spring and summer months.

This one-of-a-kind Doullut Steamboat House is also located in the Holy Cross neighborhood. It was built in 1905 by Paul Doullut. He was a steamboat captain and wanted a house that resembled the boats he guided up and down the river. The house is also flood resistant, with the bottom floor being covered in ceramic. It survived the flooding of Hurricane Katrina and brought residents back to the devastated Holy Cross neighborhood.
