Holidays and sports go together like powdered sugar and fried dough, and never more so than in New Orleans. Every time you turn around in New Orleans, we’re celebrating another holiday, and hosting another sports event. Which means it will come as no surprise that a) we are as superior in sports-event-hosting as we are in holiday-celebrating b) we’ve got a great time planned over New Year’s: the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

This year, sleep in on January 1, then wake up ready to rumble for the Allstate Sugar Bowl at 7:45 p.m CT., right here in the Superdome. The Alabama Crimson Tide will take on the Clemson Tigers for a multi-day, football-fan-packed lead-up to the big game. Here’s some events not to be missed.

Fan Fest — At the heart of every football game is the fans. At the heart of the French Quarter is Jackson Square. Put the two together, and what do you get? An event you’ll love with all your heart, the Allstate Fan Fest. Think the biggest pep rally you’ve ever been to, alongside the Mississippi River, featuring football celebrations, free music, a chance to win prizes, and so much more. Plus, the second annual ‘Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” will be broadcasting live from the Fan Fest performances! The Allstate® Fan Fest is free to the public and open from 12 p.m to 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 30, and on Sunday, December 31. It will take you straight through New Year’s Eve celebrations. Fan Fest is located at Jackson Square in the Jax Brewery parking lot off Decatur Street (418 Decatur Street).

Fans will have the opportunity to be a part of “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2018.” Last year, the iconic annual New Year’s Eve tradition expanded with coverage from New Orleans, Louisiana, in its first-ever Central Time Zone countdown. This year’s live segments will once again include exclusive performances by national recording artists from the Allstate® Fan Fest, where New Orleans locals and tourists gather annually to celebrate the New Year and usher in the annual Allstate® Sugar Bowl®.
