Since I heard about the #followyournola campaign in New Orleans, I’ve been following the hashtag closely to see other people’s exploration of this city – a city which means so many different things to so many different people. When you think about it, it’s pretty safe to say that no two people have the exact same picture of New Orleans in their head, but that’s kind of the beauty in it all. So this campaign allows you to see the city through the exploration of others, which in my opinion, is pretty darn cool. Below is a picture captured by @Californola on Instagram and I picked it for this week’s Instagram Pick of the Week for quite a few reasons. Within this one shot, you are able to see many things that represent the NOLA we all love. The fleur de lis itself represents our French heritage, and our beloved New Orleans Saints. The beads represent our love for festivals and especially Mardi Gras. The fountain is a representation of our exquisite architecture and our love for bright colors. Pretty awesome, isn’t it? So we ask, what does New Orleans mean to you? Show us by hashtagging your images with #followyournola. Oh, and we applaud @Californola for the awesome capture!
