August is the peak of summer in New Orleans, and this month’s fitness classes focus on workouts that will heat you up and cool you down. From HIIT classes followed by ice-cold beer, to road races with snowballs at the finish line, you’ll leave these classes feeling invigorated and refreshed.

New Orleans Pride Run & Walk

Hugging the shores of the Mississippi River lies Crescent Park, one of my favorite places to run in New Orleans. On August 31, stop by the park for a family-friendly 5K race celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride. Proceeds from the race benefit benefit PFLAG New Orleans, and like most New Orleans road races, there’s a party after that includes complimentary beer, snowballs, coffee, and jambalaya. Registration and packet pickup begins at 8 a.m., and the race starts at 9 a.m.

When: Saturday, Aug. 31, 9 a.m

Where: Crescent Park, 30 N. Peters St.

Cost: $25 with pre-registration here.

Insider’s Tip: Located just blocks from the French Quarter, Crescent Park is a great destination to run any day.
