Galentine’s Day in New Orleans: an excuse to celebrate your true loves in the best city on Earth. This unofficial holiday may have started out as a joke a decade ago, but over the years it’s come to represent something more. New Orleans is filled to the brim with places to eat, relax, and celebrate the gals in your life. What’s Valentine’s Day? Never heard of her.

Get dressed, go out

Rooftop bars – With sweeping views of the city, our roundup of rooftop bars is the perfect starting point for a night out with the girls.

Live Music – New Orleans’ music scene is alive and well every night of the week. Check out these spots for jazz music, or turn things up a notch with your crew at a club with bounce music.

Go on a King Cake Tasting – King cake season is in full swing, and every restaurant and bakery in the city has something to offer. Grab a traditional cake for the squad, or go on a cocktail tour with specialty Mardi Gras-themed drinks around town.

Sirens of Salvage Mardi Gras Ball featuring Big Freedia – Party with Big Freedia on Galentine’s Day. The Sirens of Salvage Mardi Gras Ball is the season opener to the spring 2020 season at Music Box Village. This year’s theme, Sirens of Salvage, encourages guests to re-purpose hand-me-downs, heirlooms, and nostalgic momentos for their costume. $24

Pelicans vs. Thunder – Watch as the Pelicans take on the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Blender on Galentine’s Day. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. $14

Alice & Amelia Sip n’ Shop – Alice & Amelia, the group that organizes the annual 5K Dogs Race to the Rescue, is hosting a Sip n’ Shop at its store at 4432 Magazine St. from 4-7p.m. Complimentary wine and cheese will be offered to all shoppers, and a percentage of all proceeds will go to animal rescue organizations in New Orleans. In store, you’ll also find a sale of select unique Valentine’s Day gift items so you can shop for you and your besties.

Taste America® New Orleans Raising the Bar Reception – The James Beard Foundation’s Taste America® presented by Capital One® returns to New Orleans on February 12 and 13, 2020, to celebrate America’s culinary diversity with an exciting lineup of celebrity chefs and mixologists. On Galentine’s Day, attend the Raising the Bar Reception, featuring local chefs and bartenders serving everything from Habanero Pork Shoulder Rillettes and Slow Cooked American Lamb to Salted Chocolate Olive Oil Cookies and specialty cocktails at NOCHI. The event begins at 6 p.m. $75

Oysters 4 the Coast – Oysters 4 the Coast is the kick off to the Annual New Orleans Oyster Festival held every spring. The event features four beers, four wines, and four types of Oysters all for $44 at Superior Seafood from 5-9 p.m. $44

Jack Rose Restaurant – Enjoy brunch or dinner at Jack Rose on Galentine’s Day. Try the restaurant’s famed chicken and waffles, or indulge in one of the Veuve Clicquot Bottle Specials (Yellow Label $50; Rosé $65).

SoBou – Toast to friendship with Veuve Clicquot Rosé for $12 by the glass and $65 by the bottle, and choose two shared apps like charcuterie and cheese plates, West Indies crab salad, and more for $15 at SoBou.

Ralph’s on the Park – From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Galentine’s Day, sip three sparkling tastings of Perrier-Jouët BrutDumangin, and Mumm Brut Rosé for $20 at Ralph’s on the Park. The special French Kiss cocktail, featuring Pineapple and Raspberry-infused Vodka, is $10 with 20 percent of the purchase benefiting the American Heart Association.
