GoNOLA YouTube Pick of the Week: Satchmo Club Strut at Satchmo Summefest

The Satchmo SummeFest celebrates music and culture of New Orleans and features a strut of local New Orleans musicians down famous Frenchman Street.

New OrleansSatchmo Summerfest is a celebration of the legendary Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong and takes place every year in New Orleans during Louis’ birthday (August 4) weekend. Like many of New Orleans’ festivals, Satchmo Fest focuses on music as well as the rich history and culture of the city. One of the greatest (in my personal opinion) events during this festival is the Satchmo Club Strut along Frenchmen Street. The Strut is exactly what you think it is — a group of people strutting along Frenchmen to the tunes of local musicians. It’s truly a fabulous experience and unlike anything else I’ve ever experienced. Artists for the Strut this year include Treme Brass Band, Alex Bosworth, Freddy Omar, Charmaine Neville and many others. Tickets are $30 for general admission, so buy them soon! The Strut will take place this year on Friday, August 5!
