Rain On My Parade

Ahhh summer. No matter how much I try to predict the weather I can never figure out when it’s supposed to rain.

I once had visions of cute rain “outfits” with perfectly coordinated boots and umbrella. Then I realized I’m usually in a mad dash out the door and those fun printed galoshes really clash with just about everything I own.  Who has the time to lay out an outfit when the streets are wet?

The classic Hunter boot in a neutral color ensures a match to your color scheme every time.

Available at Jean Therapy and Saks.

If you’re willing to take the time to style them Target has a ton of fun patterned boots that hover in the $25 price range. However Shoe-nami on Magazine St. usually keeps them in stock so always try to shop local first.

My favorite rubber shoes won’t keep my feet dry but won’t get ruined either.  I wrote about Melissa brand shoes for Miss Malaprop’s blog back in October.

I have two pairs, one in black and one in gold glitter. I LOVE these shoes as they are not only comfortable but guaranteed to look cute and won’t get ruined in the rain.

Of course your feet shouldn’t be the only part of your body that stays dry. Invest in a good, packable rain jacket and you’ll be able to use it for years to come.

The Marmot PreCip packs down to the size of a water bottle and is lightweight enough for summer sprinkles.

Do you feel that planning for the weather cramps your style? I hear ya. Just duck into the nearest drug store and grab the same umbrella everyone else is sporting. At least you won’t get mad when you lose it.
