The annual Zurich Classic golf tournament tees up later this month in New Orleans. TPC of Louisiana in Avondale, Louisiana, will play host to the tournament for the eighth consecutive year. The Zurich Classic has become a major event on the PGA Tour and an important event for the local economy. This year the schedule is filled with chances for fans to see their favorite players in PGA competition and in the Pro-Ams.

The Zurich Classic is a family-friendly event that will have something for all ages. There are opportunities to spectate and participate all week long. Great food, celebrity golfers competing for charity, a Youth Clinic for aspiring young golfers, and music by Band Camp and the Bucktown All-Stars are only a few of the attractions at the 2014 Zurich Classic.
The four rounds of PGA Tour Golf will probably be the highlight of the week for most, but the Pro-Ams offer spectators a chance to see their favorite players in a slightly more relaxed and more intimate atmosphere. There are two Pro-Ams this year at TPC of Louisiana. The first Pro-Am is on Monday, April 21 (11:00 a.m. shotgun start). Tickets to participate in the Monday Pro-Am are gone, but there are still chances for those who want to play with the pros to participate in the Wednesday, April 23, Pro-Am. Even for those who are only interested in watching, the Pro-Ams are a great way see more than just the tournament rounds.
The Professional Practice Rounds for the Zurich Classic will start at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22. The Practice rounds will be the last opportunity to get an inside look at who is playing well and is likely to compete to be the champion of the Zurich Classic.

The Capital One Bank® Celebrity Shootout will feature eight celebrity golfers playing in teams in a modified scramble format. The celebrities, who have not yet been announced but are promised to be “some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment” in southern Louisiana, will be paired in four groups and will be competing for a grand prize of $30,000 to split between their charities. To top off the Celebrity Shootout, one lucky fan will hit for a $1 million-dollar-hole-in-one on the ninth hole at TPC of Louisiana.
For those looking to play a few rounds while they are in Louisiana, the courses in Audubon Park and City Park offer some of the best golf Louisiana has to offer. The North Course in City Park features a challenging, full course with plenty of hazards to get lost in for the day. The Audubon Park Executive Golf Course is a par-62 course located in Uptown New Orleans right across from the Audubon Zoo. Golf Digest recently awarded the Executive Golf Course 4.5 out of 5 stars on their “Best Places to Play” rankings. Both are terrific options for quenching the desire to play a round that the Zurich Classic always provokes.
The tournament festivities begin on Monday, April 21, and run until the Championship Round on Sunday, April 27.
