The pro golf circuit’s annual tour makes one of its most important stops on Monday, April 19, when the Zurich Classic of New Orleans tees off at the TPC Louisiana course in Avondale.
Nearly 160 of golf’s top players (with ten “alternates” waiting in the wings) will compete for a yet-unspecified stake that might even surpass last year’s record $6.3 million. This year, such top names as Sergio Garcia, Charles Howell III, Steve Stricker, David Toms, Mike Weir and many more will try to dethrone defending champion, Jerry Kelly, who is also competing.
The tournament can be seen locally on Cox Cable; check local listings for specific stations.
Participants will tee off on Monday, April 19 and the tournament will wrap up Sunday the 25th. The course is 12 miles from downtown New Orleans. Approximate drive time, in good traffic via the Crescent City Connection bridge and the Westbank Expressway, is 20 minutes.
