Dress For Success: A Walk To Benefit New Orleans Women

Let’s face it, we are judged by our appearance on a daily basis, particularly in the work force.  Everyone wants to make a great first impression for a job interview, but not everyone has the resources to purchase a whole work wardrobe. Dress For Success, an international not-for-profit organization with a branch here in New Orleans, empowers and assists underprivileged women by helping them get back on their feet and providing business-appropriate attire, job preparation resources and career development tools as they work toward professional, economic and personal independence.

“Dress for Success New Orleans works with the women of our community to provide them the tools to achieve economic independence.”

– Juli Miller Hart, Dress for Success New Orleans Board of Directors President

On Saturday, June 18, Dress for Success New Orleans will host its 1st Annual Power Walk, a 2-mile fun walk being held at New Orleans City Park to benefit Dress for Success resources such as the career development and employment retention programs. The goal of the walk is to remind women that a well-balanced, healthy lifestyle is important in their long term success both in work and in life.

“Raising community awareness and funding for Dress for Success New Orleans through events like the 1st Annual Power Walk is essential to the organization’s long-term success,” said Kristen Nelson and Christine Bozinis, Dress for Success New Orleans Power Walk event co-chairs. “We are thrilled to be a part of this inaugural event and help foster the mission of Dress for Success.”

Sponsors and partners include some great companies and organizations at both the local and national level including Galatoire’s, Langensteins, Life Yoga, The Occasional Wife, Iberia Bank, PJ’s Coffee and Varsity Sports.  So come out and help New Orleans women gain the skills that they need to live the lives that they deserve.

The registration fee for the walk is $25 per person and walkers can register individually or as a team.  Registration is at 7AM, Walk begins at 8AM. Visit the Dress For Success Website for registration information.
