Last Weekend in New Orleans: Essence Music Festival, Lucky Rooster, and Hansen’s Sno-Bliz

This weekend in New Orleans was one to remember, as the city hosted the annual Essence Music Festival. People from all over the country flocked to the city to hear great music, taste mouth-watering food, and experience what the Big Easy is best known for- cultural celebrations! Take a look at some of our favorite weekend memories captured in photos. Was your weekend as exciting as ours? Share your story with us on Facebook and Twitter!

What We Did: The Essence Music Festival celebrated it’s 18th year in New Orleans last weekend. Known as “a party with a purpose,” the Essence Music Festival is composed of informational panels, interactive booths, and a nightly concert featuring different artists each evening. One of New Orleans local R&B artists, Kourtney Heart, had the honor of performing in one of the concert lounges at the Superdome Sunday night. Her energy-packed performance left the crowd begging for more!

What We Drank: Excited to see all of the festival buzz in the downtown district and French Quarter, we decided to pair our stroll with a drink from the Lucky Rooster. The Pineapple Thai Basil Soda, made with fresh juices and house-made syrups, is one of the restaurant’s featured “Sparkle Pop” drinks. You can also make this beverage beauty, ‘Tiger Style,” by adding vodka or coconut hooch.

What We Ate: After taking in the sights downtown, we decided we would cool off from the summer heat with a frosty snoball from Hansen’s Sno-Bliz. As one of the oldest snoball stands in the city known for their house-made flavors, we had to get a Cream of Coffee and Cream of Chocolate mix. It tastes just as decadent and divine as it sounds!
