Last Weekend in New Orleans: Riverwalk, Rainstorm and Tacos

Last weekend in New Orleans we enjoyed a Rainstorm cocktail from Pat O’Brien’s, a walk on the Riverwalk and tacos from the La Cocinita food truck.

Summer in New Orleans is officially here! In true New Orleans fashion, we never let a little rain or humidity stop the party.  Instead, we embrace summer’s fickle weather by putting on our most faithful pair of rain boots and racing to the nearest venue to find the season’s most refreshing cocktail and delicious eats! Check out our adventures from last weekend and don’t forget to share your weekend adventures with us on Facebook and Twitter.

What We Did: After a long day of wandering around the city, is there anything more peaceful than a night time stroll on the Riverwalk? As the city begins to quiet down in the later hours, the beauty of the Mississippi radiates with calming views of the Crescent City Connection, steamboats and skylines in the distance.

What We Drank: The best way to avoid a summer rainstorm is to drink one. The Pat O’Brien’s Rainstorm cocktail is a blue-hued beauty mixed with vodka, melon liqueur, coconut Rum, pineapple juice, sour mix, topped off with Blue Curacao. If this isn’t your style, Pat O’Brien’s offers an extensive selection of specialty drinks that you can add to your summer weekend cocktail list.

What We Ate: The New Orleans food truck community is making a tasty impact on the dining culture in the city, and one of our favorite offerings is the fresh and authentic tacos from La Cocinita. This Latin American food truck adds a little spice to the New Orleans street food palette. You can currently catch their weekend appearances at Rendezvous Tavern, Hollygrove Market, and The Kingpin.
