Video: Go Wild at Audubon Zoo

Audubon Zoo in New Orleans is home to exotic species plus interactive components like a splash park, ropes course, and lazy river.

Zoo-going is far from a spectator sport at Audubon Zoo. Yes, you can view exotic species like leopards and white alligators, but you can also test your agility on a challenging ropes course and enjoy face time with African goats and sheep. Perhaps, though, a spectator sport is what you’re after? People-watch (or animal-watch) from the comfort of your inner-tube in the zoo’s Gator Run Lazy River.

Fleurty Girl: The Audubon Zoo makes a day out for the whole family. And it’s not just about seeing the animals. Let’s take a look at some of the interactive activities that make the zoo one of New Orleans’ biggest attractions.

For the adventurous ones out there, the Kamba Kourse’s three stories of rope ladders and swinging bridges are about fun and fitness at the same time. It’s built for all ages and skill levels, but younger zoo-goers might like the Sky-Tykes section a little better.

You can get hands-on with the animals at the petting zoo in the African Savannah section. The kids will love to interact with the free-range sheep and goats!

The Gator Run: a 750-foot lazy river at the Cool Zoo water park. You can pretty much guarantee this will be a favorite summer spot for the whole family. This splash park also has water slides, sand beaches, and some comfy cabanas perfect for relaxing.

From the amazing animals to all the other activities, there’s something for all ages to enjoy here at the Audubon Zoo. I’m Fleurty Girl, and that cabana’s calling my name, so I’ll see you next time, darlin’.
