This weekend in New Orleans, we’re exploring downtown. On Saturday, keep your eyes open for a sea of red flooding the Quarter for Red Dress Run. Then, head out to Royal Street for the annual art stroll known as Dirty Linen Night. There’s lots of live music to see this weekend, and we’ve pulled our favorites together in our Live Music Calendar. The Saints play their first game of the preseason this Thursday, and we’ll be cheering them on from one of our favorite sports bars right here in NOLA. Will you join us?
Red Dress Run – This Saturday, a sea of red will flood downtown New Orleans with the 24th annual Red Dress Run, a tradition organized by the New Orleans Hash House Harriers. But don’t be intimidated: there won’t be much actual running involved; rather, participants are encouraged to have a good time while enjoying food, drinks, and music. The day starts at 9 a.m. at Crescent Park before “runners” take to the French Quarter at 11 a.m. Lunch is served back at Crescent Park at noon, then it’s an all-day party with music and more. You can register to participate here.
Dirty Linen Night – Stroll through the French Quarter on Royal Street this Saturday for Dirty Linen Night. We hope you didn’t go through the effort of washing your outfit from last week’s White Linen Night, as this event encourages outfit repeating while enjoying dirty martinis, dirty rice, and lots of great artwork. The casual art stroll is free and begins at 6 p.m.
Saints Preseason Football – Cheer on the Saints in their first preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars this Thursday. Though they won’t be playing in NOLA, you can still cheer them on at a local sports bar with the rest of us. It’s officially football season, y’all, and we’ve got all the best spots to catch the games here.
Looking for a show to catch during the month of August? This month in NOLA is jam-packed with them. Check out our Live Performance Calendar for some inspiration.
