Your Guide to Black and Gold Saints Style

If you’ve ever attended a Saints game, then you would know that Saints fans are not only the loudest, but also the best dressed fans in the NFL. New Orleans dresses accordingly for every occasion and football season is clearly no exception. On any given Sunday in the Dome, the black and gold sea is obvious. But, look closely, because you won’t just see Saints jerseys. Among the looks, you’ll also find a sequined gold jacket, a black and gold Hawaiian shirt, some custom Saints sneakers, and a black and gold Darth Vader.

With the Saints heading into the playoffs, black and gold is in for 2019. Here’s where to find the latest black and gold apparel to get you through the postseason.

Gold Sequin Bomber Jacket

Lucky for us, sequins and bomber jackets are (mutually exclusively) on trend right now, to which we say, “why not combine them?” Phina luckily has them stocked, and, even luckier for us, they have two locations in town so we can get our hands on them. Additionally, they can still come in handy during Mardi Gras, so you’ll get your money’s worth.

The sequin bomber is $52, available in S-XL, and can be purchased at either Phina location (3013 Magazine St., 3717 Veterans Memorial Blvd.) or call (504-888-4141) to place an order.

Laya Active Leggings

Who doesn’t want to wear comfortable and fashionable leggings to the Saints game? However, even if you aren’t going to the game, leggings are great for watching on the couch, at a bar, or even being festive while doing yoga.

Laya Active is a local activewear brand that makes leggings in fun prints and themes representative of New Orleans. Think: snowballs, Mardi Gras, and now, Saints! As an added bonus, the brand is environmentally conscious and made in the U.S.A.

The Saints leggings are $92, available in sizes XS-L, and can be ordered online at, and can be purchased at Phina, Vista Yoga and Wellness, and The Barre Code.

The Clear Purse Situation

One of the biggest fashion travesties of the last few years came when arenas banned purses larger than the size of one’s hand, only to release the tragic clear NFL backpack. Let’s also not forget that they suggested that you use a Ziploc bag to carry your belongings. Enough said.

Hemline has you covered with small clear crossbody purses. The purses come with a removable gold chain strap, but interchangeable guitar straps are also sold for those that may want to customize their accessory. The boutique also carries clear fanny packs and phone cases that come equipped with a credit card holder and a cross body strap, because those are the essentials, after all.

Prices vary on all purses and are available at Hemline’s Magazine (3310 Magazine St.) and French Quarter (609 Chartres St.) locations.

T-shirts are the bread and butter at the Dome, but they don’t have to be the same NFL tee everyone and their mom and ‘dem is wearing. New Orleans loves a t-shirt shop and football season is no exception. Check out some of our local favorites like Jean Therapy, Fleurty Girl, and Dirty Coast for their selections. They each have multiple locations throughout town.

We can’t not include the Black and Gold Store

The Black and Gold Sports Shop at 2106 Veterans Blvd. is like the Christmas store that’s open year-round. Whatever your need, they have you covered in anything Saints related – from jerseys and t-shirts to Hawaiian shirts and sweaters and everything in between, like face stickers, mugs, socks, and golf pants. Whatever it is that you’re in the market for, the Black and Gold Store will have it.

Accessorize, because more is more

Would we even be New Orleanians if we didn’t overdo it? So why stop at the clothes? Accessories can make the outfit, whether it’s a subtle gold necklace to go with your black t-shirt or a black and gold feathered earring to match your sequined jacket. Trendz, with locations on Magazine Street and in the French Quarter, have a variety of jewelry and accessories to tie everything together. Added bonus: with price points that range between $9 and $20, it takes the guilt away in case you want to get back stock in Saints accessories.

Trendz currently has a selection of black and gold earrings that vary from simple hoops and studs to large, feathered earrings, dainty New Orleans-themed necklaces, sequined scarves and headpieces, gold hair accessories, and clear purses and backpacks.
