Audubon Zoo announced the birth of an Amur leopard cub as the baby received its first vaccinations and had blood drawn. The still un-named cub was determined to be a female and was given a quick veterinary exam before she was put back into a holding area with her mom. The baby, born six weeks ago at the New Orleans zoo, will receive more inoculations at 9 weeks and at 12 weeks before she goes on public exhibit with her parents in the Asian Domain area of Audubon Zoo.
Amur leopards are among the world’s most endangered cats. Their range is limited today to the Russian Far East.
