Paul Sanchez’s songs, and the stories he tells behind his songs, are the embodiment of life in the New Orleans. Most of his tunes begin with a story–either recalling a conversation that inspired a lyric or of a long-winded introduction of a friend in the musical community who is going to guest on a verse. Sanchez is sentimental, warm and self-effacing, just like New Orleans itself.
The first time I saw him perform was at a New Orleans benefit in Washington D.C. The stories he told made me ache for New Orleans. Two years later, I moved back here.
